Imported Food Inspection Data


The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has released the latest report regarding the imported food inspection data from 1st January 2020 to 31st January 2020. This report provides summary data of the inspections conducted under the Imported Food Inspection Scheme (IFIS), the risk-based border inspection program, during this 12-month period.


Within this timeframe:

  • The compliance rate for all food inspected was 97.9%

  • 152,289 tests were conducted on food. including

    • 65,053 label and composition assessments

    • 24,677 analytical tests

    • 62,559 other tests

  • 25,132 imported food entries were referred for inspection

  • 50,941 lines of these entries were inspected, comprising of

    • Risk foods (19.7%)

    • Surveillance foods (74.7%)

    • Surveillance foods subject to a holding order (5.6%)
